An ancient, proudly independent kingdom and major center of Buddhism, Thailand is also a beach lover’s paradise. Veneration for the royal family runs strong in Thailand, as does an endearing love of cutesy figurines and theme cafes. From the last peak of the Himalayas, through sweltering Bangkok, to deserted southern beaches, we zigzagged our way through Thailand by train, bus, and occasionally motorbike.
