Located at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, the city-state of Singapore is a supremely wealthy and well-ordered place. It’s also surprisingly green and shares Malaysia’s diverse ethnic mix and love for food. We could only afford to stay there for a few days at a time while in transit in Southeast Asia, but it was always a treat to visit, with amazing things to see and good things to eat.
When we visited
April 2015, May 2016
Major stops
Little India
Memorable Moment
In a botanic garden full of orchids and other exotic (to us) tropical plants, watching crowds of Asians jostle to take photos of pansies and tulips in a special exhibition of European spring flowers
