The Slow Road
Two Women Wandering the World
We spent two weeks working at a hostel in Dunfanaghy in the northern county of Donegal. Like much of Ireland, Donegal is full of sheep.
The area around Dunfanaghy is beautiful and rugged, full of mountains, water, and heather.
Our workplace: Corcreggan Mill inn and hostel (flying the UN flag)
This little cottage apartment was our home
Leo the alarm lamb woke us every morning at 7
A beautiful place to dry the hostel's endless laundry
The view from the road behind the hostel, to Tory Island
A horse who lives in the neighborhood
The beach a few kilometers from our hostel
The hostel owner's dog on the beach
New Lake was formed in 1917, when blowing sand dunes cut off a former estuary from the sea
New Lake on a sunny day
Dunfanaghy's great sandy beach
Ireland has dramatic and constantly changing clouds
A view on a walk we took on Horn Head Peninsula
The Horn Head cliffs
And lots of heather
This perfect knob is called Fairy Hill (it sounds better in Gaelic)
