Scotland is a beautiful place, with diverse, rugged scenery and wonderful castles. One of our best friends has been there many times. We began our year in Europe by attending his wedding in Edinburgh Castle in January 2008. We would have loved to stay longer, but the January temperatures were too cold for our backpacking wardrobe, so this was just a brief stop.
