During our 2008 travels through Europe, we fled the heat and crowds of August by heading north to Ireland. We explored the rural western side of the country from bottom to top, hiking and driving along beautiful rocky peninsulas, spending a few days on a windswept limestone island in the Irish Sea, and working at a country inn in the northwestern county of Donegal.
